16 talented new artists are ‘Starting Out’!
Art in the Frame Foundation, the managing charity of The Harbour Gallery Jersey at St Aubin, is pleased to announce a fantastic new exhibition ‘Starting Out’, showcasing the work of 16 budding local Jersey artists & craftworkers, running from 28th March to 8th April. Featuring a varied mix of work including paintings, digital art, illustration, resin, ceramics and photography, this will be the first major exhibition for the finalists.
The exhibition opening evening is taking place on Thursday 28th March, 6.30pm – 8.00pm, at The Harbour Gallery Jersey in St Aubin and will be officially opened at 7pm by Richard Harwood from the Islands Foundation, the exhibition sponsor. Refreshments will be provided and a raffle will be held with all monies raised going straight to Art in the Frame Foundation.
41 applications to exhibit were made (and another 9 unfortunately after the deadline!) and after many hours of deliberation, 16 finalists were chosen to exhibit and sell their work in the upcoming exhibition. The exhibitors range from students going on to start art and textiles degrees later in the year to others who have taken up art in their retirement.
The 16 exhibitors taking part are:
Felicity Nightingale, Daniel Reilly, Kathy Alderson, Judith Clare, Elizabeth Adams, Kevin White, Dylan Kempster-Smyth, Nadege Pannetier, Catia Riva, Rosina Evans, Kurt Balleine, Memae Le Tiec, Gina Rabet, Connie Hayers, Kimberley Ransom, Gemma Midgeley
Pat Robson, charity chairman and gallery director says “We are delighted to see so much talent right here in Jersey that in fact, it was a real struggle to narrow down our exhibition finalists. As the charity was started 21 years ago to promote up and coming artists, we feel that this year, our 21st birthday, is the ideal opportunity to hold such an exhibition”.
The Islands Foundation, having been set up to benefit sporting, educational, cultural and community projects in the Islands by using funds raised by Islands Lotto, has kindly agreed to sponsor this exhibition.
The ‘Starting Out’ exhibition continues until midday on Monday 8th April. The Harbour Gallery Jersey is open 7 days a week 10.00am – 5.30pm, parking is available along The Bulwarks or at the public car parks next to The Yacht Club and the Parish Hall.
