The Harbour Gallery Jersey runs a comprehensive programme of exhibitions, workshops, classes and events for adults and children alike. We host at least 10 exhibitions a year as well as a good variety of day time, evening and weekend workshops/classes and exciting events for all the family. Art and Design GCSE with Stephanie Rondel at the Harbour Gallery (1 year course):
Stephanie Rondel is an artist educator who has five years experience working as a Secondary School Art teacher delivering GCSE and A-level Art curricula. As well as having a background in Arts education, Stephanie continues to work as an artist, exhibiting and selling work locally on the Island. The GCSE Art and Design course being offered at the Harbour Gallery is suitable for students currently in year 10 and 11, offering them the opportunity to gain an Art and Design GCSE qualification with Edexcel exam board.
This fun and intensive course will run every Tuesday from 4.30 – 6.30pm and introduce students to a range of materials including drawing, painting, printing, photography and sculpture. Students will participate in theme-based units to allow them to gain experience in a variety of materials and processes before working towards their own independent project, based on the students developing interests.
The course numbers will remain small to ensure that students can receive one-to-one support and guidance throughout the year. With the course being condensed into one year, students will need to be proactive. Ensuring they continue to work on their portfolios outside of the lessons and complete the weekly tasks set during the sessions.
Each two-hour session will be priced at £30. Payments will be processed each term, with the cost varying slightly depending on the length of the school term. Autumn Term (22nd September – 15th December, £360), Spring Term (4th January – 1st April, £360), Summer Term (To be confirmed). Any student wishing to withdraw from the course would be required to give a terms notice of their intention to resign. Students’ exam board entries would be an additional cost to the course. Art material packs for the course are available to purchase from the Harbour Gallery. These include an A3 sketchbook, pencils, paintbrushes and a set of acrylic paints. It is suggested students bring these packs to each of the sessions but some materials will be provided in the lessons. The Harbour Gallery offers 10% off art materials for students.
